New battery technology to boost range of EVs by up to three times

“Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) nearly doubled in 2013, but most won’t take you farther than 100 miles on one charge. To boost their range toward a tantalizing 300 miles or more, researchers are reporting progress on a “breathing” battery that has the potential to one day replace the lithium-ion technology of today’s EVs. They presented their work at the 247th National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society, the world’s largest scientific society”


Lego looking for eco friendly alternative to ABS

Lego are searching for an alternative, sustainable and eco friendly alternative to ABS (acrilnitrile butadiene styrene).  One leading candidate lies in PLAs (poly lactic acids), but the material will need to embody the low to non shrinkage of ABS in order to allow the brick pieces to attach, in what Lego calls ‘clutching power’.  More information can be found in the article here
